Neomysis americanus (telson)

This is a lateral view of the last abdominal segment, which ends with a pair of lateral uropods and the median telson.

The sharply tapered telson with two terminal spines separates Neomysis from other common nearshore mysids. The telson may be obscured by the uropods in some views.

The inner uropod on each side has a statocyst, as is typical of mysids.
