Corycaeus amizonicus

(Cyclopoid copepod) 0.9 mm

Collected: 30 km SE of Georgetown, SC, at the surface, summer 2006 15/03
Notes: Corycaeus amizonicus occurs from New England to Florida and in the Gulf of Mexico in summer and fall. It is most common in waters >10 km from shore.

Note the short antennae, the eyes with large 'ocular lenses', and the bright coloration that distinguish this species. This is a lateral view.
