Collected: Assateague, VA, 500 m from shore using an epibenthic sled fitted with plankton net, 365 micrometer mesh.5/03

Notes: The Asian shore crab is a recently introduced species first found in New Jersey in 1988. It has since spread rapiidly, and the adult is now reported from to Maine to North Carolina. This is the first report of wild-caught larvae in the plankton. It was relatively common in these June collections off of Assateague.
